Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management and control of consignment stock across both theatre complexes, ensuring accurate stock records, timely replenishment, supplier coordination and billing. The role will focus on improving stock utilisation, maintaining contractual compliance, strengthening financial controls and supporting efficient theatre operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor daily consignment stock utilisation, ensuring accurate recording of stock used and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
- Coordinate stock orders, replenishment, supplier invoices, patient billing and stock reconciliations to ensure accurate and timeous processing.
- Conduct regular stock counts, investigate discrepancies and monitor expiry dates, excess stock and the return or upliftment of unused stock.
- Maintain and monitor supplier agreements across, pricing schedules and contractual compliance, while liaising with suppliers regarding stock availability, pricing and service delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve stock utilisation, streamline processes, reduce unnecessary stock holding and prevent stock losses or revenue leakage.
- Assist with general theatre stock control, stock takes and billing support when required.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready stock records and ensure compliance with hospital policies, procurement procedures and applicable quality and accreditation requirements.
- Work closely with doctors, theatre personnel, stock controllers and suppliers to ensure continuity of stock availability and efficient theatre operations.
Education
Grade 12 qualification.
Experience and Requirements
- Previous experience in stock control, inventory management or a similar role.
- Experience in a hospital, theatre or healthcare environment will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of consignment stock management and supplier coordination will be an advantage.
- Good computer skills and the ability to work with stock management systems.
- Strong numerical, administrative and organisational abilities.
