Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse in Theatre to join our dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care while ensuring a well-prepared theatre environment and excellent patient outcomes.

This role requires a professional who is passionate about patient safety, teamwork, and maintaining high standards of clinical excellence in the surgical environment. 

Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Practice

·       Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care.

·       Conduct patient assessments and assist with surgical procedures when required.

·       Prepare and manage the theatre environment according to surgical protocols.

·       Ensure accurate documentation of all nursing interventions and patient outcomes.

·       Monitor patients in recovery and provide appropriate post-operative care.

 

Theatre Preparation & Equipment Management

·       Ensure theatre and recovery areas are clean, safe, and well prepared.

·       Check and maintain anaesthesia and monitoring equipment before procedures.

·       Manage surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies effectively.

·       Report and document faulty equipment promptly.

 

Medication & Compliance

·       Administer medications in line with legal and hospital requirements.

·       Manage controlled and scheduled medications responsibly.

·       Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards.

 

Leadership & Teamwork

·       Work collaboratively with doctors and the multidisciplinary team.

·       Supervise and support Enrolled Nurses and Nursing Auxiliaries.

·       Mentor and guide junior staff while fostering a positive team culture.

 

Quality & Safety

·       Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

·       Identify and report risks, incidents, and patient concerns.

·       Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards and

    professional regulations.

Education

·       Degree or Diploma in general nursing science.

·       Experience in a Recovery room in a private hospital is essential.

Experience and Requirements

·       Current registration with South African Nursing Council as registered nurse.

·       Minimum of 2 years working experience in a private hospital setting.
