The hospital features three fully equipped operating theatres and three wards with a total of 20 beds, designed for optimal patient comfort and efficiency. Our range of surgical disciplines includes Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT), General Surgery, Gynaecology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, and Spinal Surgery.

 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Day Hospital Ward team. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a supportive and healing environment.

Role

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, evidence-based, and compassionate nursing care within your scope of practice. You will play a key role in clinical leadership, staff supervision, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Patient-Centred Care & Healing Environment

·       Deliver holistic, compassionate care that prioritises patient dignity, comfort, and     

    satisfaction

·       Create a welcoming and respectful environment for patients, families, and visitors

·       Communicate effectively and empathetically to enhance the patient experience

 

Clinical Care & Coordination

·       Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualised care plans

·       Administer medication and treatments safely in line with protocols

·       Monitor patient progress and respond promptly to changes in condition

·       Collaborate with doctors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care

·       Educate patients and families, encouraging involvement in care decisions

 

Governance, Compliance & Quality

·       Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements

·       Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation processes

·       Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation

 

Risk Management & Safety

·       Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic ward environment

·       Follow infection prevention, emergency, and safety protocols

·       Identify and report risks, ensuring proactive resolution

 

Leadership & Team Development

·       Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff and students

·       Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth

·       Lead by example in professionalism, integrity, and clinical excellence

  

Administration & Operations

·       Ensure effective resource allocation and stock control

·       Support efficient ward operations and compliance with administrative standards 

Education

Diploma or a Degree in General Nursing 

Experience and Requirements

·       Current registration with the South African Nursing Council

·       Experience in a Day Hospital (preferred)
