Department team. This role is suited to a highly motivated nurse who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is capable of providing exceptional patient care while also taking on shift leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality emergency care, while supporting the coordination and supervision of the nursing team during shifts.
Clinical Care
· Provide rapid, evidence-based assessment and care to patients
presenting with emergency, trauma, and acute conditions.
· Prioritise patients according to clinical urgency and ensure timely interventions.
· Administer emergency medications and therapies safely and accurately.
· Participate in resuscitation, stabilization, and management of critically ill patients.
Shift Leadership & Operational Management
· Supervise the Emergency Department and coordinate patient flow during the shift.
· Ensure medical instructions and treatment plans are implemented by nursing staff.
· Allocate patients and tasks to staff according to scope of practice and workload.
· Monitor quality of care and maintain high standards of patient safety.
Administration & Unit Oversight
· Support the Unit Manager with staffing coordination, documentation,
and operational tasks.
· Ensure emergency equipment, stock, and medication control procedures
and are maintined
· Conduct routine checks on emergency equipment and clinical resources.
Team Leadership & Development
· Mentor and support junior nursing staff during shifts.
· Foster a professional, collaborative, and patient-centred environment.
· Participate in quality improvement, audits, and clinical training initiatives.
· Registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
· Post basic qualification in Critical/Emergency Care will be advantageous
· Proven experience working in an Emergency Department or trauma environment
(minimum 3 years).
· Current certification in BLS and ACLS (PALS/ATLS/ITLS advantageous).
· Strong clinical decision-making and triage skills.
· Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
