Chef – ZAH Hospital

Our specialised services include cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, spinal surgery, orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, ENT surgery, specialist physician services, and paediatric subspecialties.
Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Chef to join our team and assist in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to patients, doctors, and staff within a professional hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans and dietary requirements
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on time in line with hospital schedules
- Assist with meal plating and portion control to maintain presentation and consistency
- Support pre-preparation of food for upcoming shifts
- Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and workstations regularly
- Adhere strictly to food safety, infection prevention, and temperature control standards
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen and catering team to ensure efficient service
- Adhere to hospital policies, SOPs, and relevant legislation
- Maintain accurate system notes and documentation
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure a clean, organised, and professional workspace
Education
Relevant culinary qualification or experience
Experience and Requirements
- Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or large-scale catering environment will be advantageous
- Knowledge of therapeutic and special diets
- Knowledge of food safety and infection prevention standards
- Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
- Good communication and teamwork skills
